Our Model

Integrated Wellness & Medical Management Process

The MediMerge model focuses on the reduction of risk (and the corresponding medical claims costs) through improvements in patient care. Recognizing that 75% of claims come from only 10% of patients, and that behavior accounts for 50% of healthcare resource consumption, MediMerge designs and administers health plans that create cost savings for the payer and increased health and wellness for the member.

MediMerge Health Inc. provides complete web-integrated health benefit programs to self-insured corporations and plan sponsors. MediMerge focuses on providing a full range of benefit resources which more effectively enable plan members to engage and navigate through the healthcare delivery system. MediMerge provides Fitness, Wellness & Illness programs which incorporate the most effective aspects of all medical arts.

The MediMerge model is based on the simple premise that, in order to be effective, health management must be initiated and maintained by the plan member. It is the role of the health plan to make available benefit levels, educational tools, and professional advice and guidance. These resources will better prepare plan members as they make their health care decisions. The MediMerge benefit programs incorporate 24/7 accessible web-based and telephonic resources to assist members in identifying and managing their health needs. The focus of these resources is to provide ongoing guidance and support to the members as they move through the healthcare delivery system.

Integrative Medicine

Integrative Medicine is the emerging medical specialty that incorporates the art and science of caring for the whole person - body, mind, and spirit - to treat and prevent disease, empowering patients to create a condition of optimal health far beyond the mere absence of illness. Both outside and inside the medical profession, this concept of medicine of the whole person is gathering increasing support; the body-mind-spirit approach integrates many disciplines and modalities, including conventional or Western treatment, physiology, biochemistry, nutrition, exercise, environment, emotions, attitudes, beliefs, social relationships, manual medicine, herbs, homeopathy, energy medicine, prayer, acupuncture, meditation, spirituality, and biofeedback.

Integrative Medicine is based on the core belief that the practice of medicine embraces a spirit of interdisciplinary and physician-patient cooperation, balances the mitigation of causes with relief of symptoms, brings together conventional and complementary therapies into a unified "medicine", and facilitates the experience of being fully alive. Integrative Medicine gets to the core issues of healing - engaging people in their health solutions and using the full spectrum of treatment options to help people back to wellness.

As these concepts are incorporated into American medical practice, medical education, health planning, and research, reasonable standards are being established regarding the application of the body of knowledge, which encompasses the field of Integrative Medicine. A body of evidence-based research continues to emerge, showing improved health outcomes and reduced cost for select modalities appropriately applied. Integrative Medicine, by incorporating that research, applying rigorous protocols for evaluating the full spectrum of treatment options, from conventional medicine through CAM, and supporting the efforts of the well population to stay well, offers plan sponsors their best opportunity to control cost, manage risk, and improve health outcomes.

ABC codes offer the healthcare industry one of the most powerful new tools available to manage healthcare access, quality and costs. ABC codes reflect three trends in health industry leadership that generate improvements in individual and public health, business and industry efficiencies, and societal and economic development: 1) acceptance of alternative, complementary and integrative healthcare practices and practitioners; 2) adoption of health-related data standards to support electronic data interchange; and 3) reliance on evidence-based medicine. ABC codes are 5 characters in length and consist of letters that represent thousands of services and supplies used for alternative medicine, nursing and other forms of integrative healthcare. These codes are supplemented by 2-character identifiers, called code modifiers, that describe the healthcare practitioners involved in a particular intervention. The codes and code modifiers are useful in understanding, evaluating and guiding the financing, administration and delivery of integrative healthcare interventions. ABC codes are supported by relative value units and legal guides that can dramatically enhance healthcare research, management and commerce. MediMerge is leading their deployment across the health industry to characterize and support best practices among more than 80% of the nation's licensed healthcare practitioners.
